"Emotionally Attached" doesn't nessessarily suggest being in love.
However, the attachment is like an anchor. One's emotion, as in the other side of the rope, will be swayed along with the anchor. As for the extent of frequency, it depends on the length of the rope, how much one's emotion is attached to.

should find a better exaple to replace anchor, since anchor doesn't move vunlunteerarily, and doesn't sway often.
